WELCOME

Hello,
Welcome to my Blog! Yes, I have been in the fight of my life against Leukemia, insomnia, depression, side effects of medications, molting skin, pooping my pants and this list goes on.... however, I still love my life, and that's what this blog is about Real Life. I hope to meet others who trails have brought them closer to the Lord and molded them for the next step in God's will. In January 2011 , my family, physician, and Be the Match was featured on a Fox 5 news story about bone marrow donors and transplants. In March, I was interviewed on Atlanta and Company along with Be the Match. I was chosen to sing the national anthem at the Be the Match Run last year and will also be doing it this year, along with some other songs. My team, no thanks to me, raised over $4,000 and raised more than any other team! Please join my team this year or consider donating here at the Run those Stem cells out ! Team I was also chosen for a patient advocacy panel for the international council meeting at Be the Match in MN in November. How exciting!! I ended up not being able to attend due to the relapse. I had hoped I could help raise awareness about how easy it is to sign up to be a donor and how many people need your help! Please go to bethematch.org and sign up! I was able to have my bone marrow (same as stem cell) transplant at the end of March thanks to a 22 year old donor oversees that I hope to meet her one day. As I came up on my 6th month mark and continued to add more normal activities to our lives, I relapsed, meaning that the that the cancer had mutated and the leukemia came back. I spent 2 more weeks at Emory and some other nights here and there and now I'm on a drug from the FDA. I have a compassion waiver so I am able to get it. I have to take it day by day sometimes hour by hour. Time keeps moving and my little girl is growing up. I'm lucky that I'm getting to see it. I continue to praise God for his wonderful blessings he has shown us including my wonderful husband Jonathan, baby girl Evalyn Rose, supportive family and friend, great medical care, new readers, and the chance to make a big difference, even if that means being a Lab Rat.
God Bless You!

Please read, comment, enjoy, learn, grow, LOVE LIFE.

Most Recently I have started a booth at a local consignment store with handmade jewelry from friends, crafts, and my own art from recycled materials. It is called DAY by DAY. God was very clear with me starting this. Please look over to the right of blog and click on Day by Day to see some pictures. I'm just getting started but I am taking orders from people that I know. You will be able to personalize items, etc. I just haven't decided how I will be selling them via internet yet. But for now, the jewelry is at A Weekend A'fair in Athens, GA and will hopefully be at some stores downtown soon.

Medical Update and More 5/9- To Hippie Land and the Beach come Flood or Runs!!

Just wanted to remind everyone how wonderful my husband is.... he left work early and miss a possible important dinner to take me to Emory, listen to some old music of mine,  and is still willing to entertain my idea of going to the hippie compound. This is a a video from Nov 10, click here to watch my version of "8 days a week". Give me a break I was hooked up to chemo, blood, and God knows what else. My Mom helped out so much this passed week and then, bless her heart, ( that makes everything just peachy when you say that, right) she ended up getting sick like the rest of us. I have the best Mom ever... she has dropped everything to come help us. I won't see her on Mother's day this year, but I will be resting up for the week ahead. Everyday we should appreciate our family members and strive to spend quality time with them, not just government issued holidays. Our family does that, more than any family I know. I think we might love each other despite all our short comings and love each other for who we are.... I'm so proud of them!

Went to Emory today to get some fluids and some tests due to my continued commitment to the John (no not you uncle, cuz, cuz in law, or husband)  and was worried about being admitted so I brought the "they may admit me bag as I always do, plus a few more things.... I put on some make up and my new blond wig and thought
"surely some one that looks this good, shouldn't be admitted."

Got a red one too... amazingly my insurance pays for them .

We had most everything packed for the beach and the hostel and I really really need to get out of the house. We have never been on a vacation just the three of us and Evalyn was too small the first time she went to the beach to enjoy it. Everyone at the hostel will love her and she will love the chickens, board walks, and flirting with a lot of people. They have a lake but it might be a little too cold. But I'm a little too hot, so who knows.

The thought of not going was stressing me out because we kept pushing it back due to one thing or another. My grandparents are not feeling well so we cancelled that trip but I need a trip before it got to hot or before I got sick again, IF.

Dr. Khoury said that it could have been a host of things. The virus, combined with a medication error (not my fault this time Dr.), and GVHD in my colon. I didn't get a no to go, so we are going..... if I have to wear adult diapers in the car, I'll do it. It won't be the first or the last time I shit my pants I'm sure. Thank God for wipes.... all kinds of wipes..... not sure how I will ever get a long without them.

I only saw one of the John's today.... but many others....

I met a lovely couple in at the clinic today. They both had very positive attitudes and an amazing story to share. They really encouraged me today. I gave them my card and hope that they will share there story here. They can better than me. We enjoyed talking and laughing about steroids, late night making plans, non compliance, online shopping, and the ups and downs of having a BMT. We shared about other people in our family that has battled and won cancer. Her daughter, my mom, and now hopefully my uncle frank and us. I can't wait to get in tough with their daughter, she sounds a lot like me and I think we could do some great things together.

Thank you Kim and Mr.Fun for watching our little girl!

It's almost 5 in the morning and I'm suppose to drive first, I'm like a little kid.

We helped find multiple matches for this 6th grader in an almost hopeless situation,  Praise the Lord for every one that signed up, volunteered, and donated!

A few things not to forget while I'm gone.... The Be the One Run is on it's way! I need people to sign up to run and help raise funds, volunteer, and donate. So far my uncle John is going to be doing a lot of the music, I'll be doing a few songs, including the national anthem again, and some kids songs for the tot trot warm up! We will have lots of activities and fun! But, this is very serious, BMT's can cure over 70 diseases and you may be the only match. Someone you tell about, or ask for a donation may sign up and save someone like me. Please go to our team page at www.tinyurl.com/runthosestemcellsout. If you own a business, or know someone with a business, and would like to make a contribution and have lots of advertisement in the Atlanta area, please let me know and I will get a packet sent to you. Also, on an individual basis, I can get posters, and post cards to hand out to people. Just email me your address at heather.cape@yahoo.com and let me know how many you need.

My New Job at Weekend A'fair- Grand Opening Booth this Week!
If you have read my other posts about praying for God's will, I really feel that God wanted me to open this booth. I'm starting in the cheap seats so go to the third row first, My booth is on the left and called Day by Day. As I said before, I've always asked why he didn't give me a neon sign with my questions, and this time I got one with one of my own paintings. I looked at it and decided it was complete and just needed my signature on it. Thanks to my step mom Fay working with me in the heat, we got a lot done this week and my hubby and mom helped too! The booth right now still needs some work, my earring, bow, holder needs to be hung up and I have to get my inventory in from my talented friends that make crafts to send me some of their stuff, you are going to LOVE! Gotta to find another book case too. Right now, it has a lot of good stuff that I have been buying, already had, and some of my art.I also have some cool vintage clothing and a pair of boots you will do more than walking in! I have met some of the nicest ladies there, they are so sweet to me. Here are some pictures but after I decorate more it will be way better! Please stop by if you can it is call  Day by Day and has our picture up and a little story about us!
