Hello Everyone... it's been a hard week. Yea, I know it's only Monday but my weeks turn into hours and hours into months and well, I'm just lucky to take the right medication at the right time of day. As many of you know, my uncle Frank is in ICU at Cartersville medical center. I grew up right next to him for many years. I thank him for my hippy side, love of records, and weird vintage things no one wants. It doesn't look like he is going to make it just a couple more days. My grandmother is also in the same hospital just a few rooms down. Last thing they need is another cancer patent and a 2 year old . Most of all, Please pray for my Dad, he has a daughter, brother, and mother that is either sick or dying, or both. He is being so strong about it all.
I'm doing ok but really wiped myself out working so long at the store on Sat. I'm sick at my stomach a lot and the last two days have been a blur and I have barely been able to get out of bed. I have not been back to Emory due to the fact that I don't want to pay a copay for them to tell me there is nothing they can do for me right now. They said a couple of weeks would be fine. I couldn't go to a cook out at Sean and Mirka because I was so out of it. I couldn't get up and go to Yoga or take Evalyn to her dance class today or go do open mic. Oh well. I did eat a little but nothing serious. I found this butternut squash soup at this Argentina place I seem to be able to tolerate. It's not on the cheap side like the onion soup. Oh by the way, never never eat onion soup at 5 am, I thought I was going to have a heart attack. See, I have to get so many hours in a month or the price of my booth goes up. I have sold some but still need to work on more paintings, wreaths and Jewelry. Summer is not the best time there because so many people are out of town and it's so hot. One good thing is that it makes the fluid in my legs and feet less because I sweat it out! I wonderful person named Brandon started a Meal Train for us and we have been getting people from strangers..... it's wonderful and the food has been great. This is such a good time for this to happen. Please if you can help someone in your area good Meal Train, it's really cool.
I will be posting some great photo's and video's soon. My little girls 2nd birthday is coming up this Monday. We have a preschool party planned and a big family party. She is the joy of our life.... this week is about life and death for our family, pray for us to see the beauty in both.
FYI- Evalyn knows how to go get her mommy more toilet paper now.
Love,
Heather
WELCOME
Hello,
Welcome to my Blog! Yes, I have been in the fight of my life against Leukemia, insomnia, depression, side effects of medications, molting skin, pooping my pants and this list goes on.... however, I still love my life, and that's what this blog is about Real Life. I hope to meet others who trails have brought them closer to the Lord and molded them for the next step in God's will. In January 2011 , my family, physician, and Be the Match was featured on a Fox 5 news story about bone marrow donors and transplants. In March, I was interviewed on Atlanta and Company along with Be the Match. I was chosen to sing the national anthem at the Be the Match Run last year and will also be doing it this year, along with some other songs. My team, no thanks to me, raised over $4,000 and raised more than any other team! Please join my team this year or consider donating here at the Run those Stem cells out ! Team I was also chosen for a patient advocacy panel for the international council meeting at Be the Match in MN in November. How exciting!! I ended up not being able to attend due to the relapse. I had hoped I could help raise awareness about how easy it is to sign up to be a donor and how many people need your help! Please go to bethematch.org and sign up! I was able to have my bone marrow (same as stem cell) transplant at the end of March thanks to a 22 year old donor oversees that I hope to meet her one day. As I came up on my 6th month mark and continued to add more normal activities to our lives, I relapsed, meaning that the that the cancer had mutated and the leukemia came back. I spent 2 more weeks at Emory and some other nights here and there and now I'm on a drug from the FDA. I have a compassion waiver so I am able to get it. I have to take it day by day sometimes hour by hour. Time keeps moving and my little girl is growing up. I'm lucky that I'm getting to see it. I continue to praise God for his wonderful blessings he has shown us including my wonderful husband Jonathan, baby girl Evalyn Rose, supportive family and friend, great medical care, new readers, and the chance to make a big difference, even if that means being a Lab Rat.
God Bless You!
Please read, comment, enjoy, learn, grow, LOVE LIFE.
Most Recently I have started a booth at a local consignment store with handmade jewelry from friends, crafts, and my own art from recycled materials. It is called DAY by DAY. God was very clear with me starting this. Please look over to the right of blog and click on Day by Day to see some pictures. I'm just getting started but I am taking orders from people that I know. You will be able to personalize items, etc. I just haven't decided how I will be selling them via internet yet. But for now, the jewelry is at A Weekend A'fair in Athens, GA and will hopefully be at some stores downtown soon.
Thanks for sharing Heather. Prayers for you and your family. We just got back from San Diego wherevEric donated bone marrow for a match. Praying the recipient receives it and responds well.

That's so awesome! I guess you will find out in a year, right?
ReplyDeleteYes, they told him they would give him an update in about a month and after a year he and Eric could exchange information. Eric was so happy he could do it.
