WELCOME

Hello,
Welcome to my Blog! Yes, I have been in the fight of my life against Leukemia, insomnia, depression, side effects of medications, molting skin, pooping my pants and this list goes on.... however, I still love my life, and that's what this blog is about Real Life. I hope to meet others who trails have brought them closer to the Lord and molded them for the next step in God's will. In January 2011 , my family, physician, and Be the Match was featured on a Fox 5 news story about bone marrow donors and transplants. In March, I was interviewed on Atlanta and Company along with Be the Match. I was chosen to sing the national anthem at the Be the Match Run last year and will also be doing it this year, along with some other songs. My team, no thanks to me, raised over $4,000 and raised more than any other team! Please join my team this year or consider donating here at the Run those Stem cells out ! Team I was also chosen for a patient advocacy panel for the international council meeting at Be the Match in MN in November. How exciting!! I ended up not being able to attend due to the relapse. I had hoped I could help raise awareness about how easy it is to sign up to be a donor and how many people need your help! Please go to bethematch.org and sign up! I was able to have my bone marrow (same as stem cell) transplant at the end of March thanks to a 22 year old donor oversees that I hope to meet her one day. As I came up on my 6th month mark and continued to add more normal activities to our lives, I relapsed, meaning that the that the cancer had mutated and the leukemia came back. I spent 2 more weeks at Emory and some other nights here and there and now I'm on a drug from the FDA. I have a compassion waiver so I am able to get it. I have to take it day by day sometimes hour by hour. Time keeps moving and my little girl is growing up. I'm lucky that I'm getting to see it. I continue to praise God for his wonderful blessings he has shown us including my wonderful husband Jonathan, baby girl Evalyn Rose, supportive family and friend, great medical care, new readers, and the chance to make a big difference, even if that means being a Lab Rat.
God Bless You!

Please read, comment, enjoy, learn, grow, LOVE LIFE.

Most Recently I have started a booth at a local consignment store with handmade jewelry from friends, crafts, and my own art from recycled materials. It is called DAY by DAY. God was very clear with me starting this. Please look over to the right of blog and click on Day by Day to see some pictures. I'm just getting started but I am taking orders from people that I know. You will be able to personalize items, etc. I just haven't decided how I will be selling them via internet yet. But for now, the jewelry is at A Weekend A'fair in Athens, GA and will hopefully be at some stores downtown soon.

Nov. 17th The Monster at the End of the book

Now...... doesn't this page look more like me?

Check out the links above.... CCS is the wonderful company I work for, L&L has lots of info on my condition, an BE the Match is going to save my life, along with God of course. Hold on.....

Now, when you click on them..... they will TAKE you to another page.... don't  freak.... you can get back to this page.... it's called the BACK button, or better yet what my hubby taught me was to right click on a link and clink OPEN new window.

Yes, I am smarty pants, but I had to learn all this before too so I'm really trying to help...... now turn the page.....even if you don't want to.

Don't give up yet...... click on these pics.... they get bigger so you can read them.... so I can read them ;)
Looking for what you wrote before? They are all under the date of the blog, or close to the date, from when you put them on Caring Bridge.
Right now, they all say "Heather says" because I put them in...under me.... see the bottom of the page.
Not too scary yet? Good...... now look at all the "Blog Archives" down the side of the page.... pretty cool....

Check out the video bar.... holy cow.

Soon, I will have a cool slide show with maybe even a pic of you, if your are ok with it. I don't know your SSI number ;)

Now.... signing up..... crap..... " MY info is all over the WEB" AHHHHHHH!   Guess what, they know where you are and who you are already  :)  It's just a new email!

What is stopping you?

A cute little Grover with a hammer?

Poppa, look at that measuring tape.... it looks like yours! Poppa knows more about computers than me! He had one in 1988!!!  DOS,  yikes!

AHHHHH!

It's just me!!!

Now, still having issues? You can email me at heather.cape@yahoo.com, or better yet, call your niece, grand child, call on your hip neighbor...... they will think you are swell and you may even make a new friend.
Hey, I was scared to leave my room last week, ha ha!!! Silly humans!

Oh, Grover, the life lessons in this book.... Monsters are not so bad :)

  1. I like the new blog. Much more colorful! And easier for me to keep up with too since I already have a blogger account.

By the way, I spoke with the people in charge at my work (a big company) about doing a donor drive for Be The Match. I'm still waiting to hear back about if they will actually agree to host a drive, but asking is the first step! Hopefully they'll come back with good news. They are super involved in tons of charities and organizations and we have blood drives here about every 3 or 4 months, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they'll take my request seriously. We'll see!

  4. This blog is already more fun because it's more you. I think people will be able to make the effort to figure it all out. I mean, it's FOR YOU! My mom is reading and commenting and again that it quite miraculous as she is not tech savvy at all.

I loved that book too. Cracked me up so much.

If you ever wanted to turn this into a book I would love to edit it and help you out. I have a lot of acquaintances in the publishing world, who knows, maybe there's an "in"!

Oh, I messed around with that Guestbook gadget and it's just clunky and doesn't work well. It's user-created, not an official Blogger one, so I don't think he worked out all of the kinks. Oh well, I think comments are just as good anyway.

  5. Thanks Cuz.... ya I'm excited about it. I always enjoyed writing just didn't have the time, will I could have made time, but I was typing so much for work writing other peoples life goals. It would be interesting to see how any of this could be rolled into a book. Very interesting. Thanks so much for your help!! I had so much fun doing it.
