WELCOME

Hello,
Welcome to my Blog! Yes, I have been in the fight of my life against Leukemia, insomnia, depression, side effects of medications, molting skin, pooping my pants and this list goes on.... however, I still love my life, and that's what this blog is about Real Life. I hope to meet others who trails have brought them closer to the Lord and molded them for the next step in God's will. In January 2011 , my family, physician, and Be the Match was featured on a Fox 5 news story about bone marrow donors and transplants. In March, I was interviewed on Atlanta and Company along with Be the Match. I was chosen to sing the national anthem at the Be the Match Run last year and will also be doing it this year, along with some other songs. My team, no thanks to me, raised over $4,000 and raised more than any other team! Please join my team this year or consider donating here at the Run those Stem cells out ! Team I was also chosen for a patient advocacy panel for the international council meeting at Be the Match in MN in November. How exciting!! I ended up not being able to attend due to the relapse. I had hoped I could help raise awareness about how easy it is to sign up to be a donor and how many people need your help! Please go to bethematch.org and sign up! I was able to have my bone marrow (same as stem cell) transplant at the end of March thanks to a 22 year old donor oversees that I hope to meet her one day. As I came up on my 6th month mark and continued to add more normal activities to our lives, I relapsed, meaning that the that the cancer had mutated and the leukemia came back. I spent 2 more weeks at Emory and some other nights here and there and now I'm on a drug from the FDA. I have a compassion waiver so I am able to get it. I have to take it day by day sometimes hour by hour. Time keeps moving and my little girl is growing up. I'm lucky that I'm getting to see it. I continue to praise God for his wonderful blessings he has shown us including my wonderful husband Jonathan, baby girl Evalyn Rose, supportive family and friend, great medical care, new readers, and the chance to make a big difference, even if that means being a Lab Rat.
God Bless You!

Please read, comment, enjoy, learn, grow, LOVE LIFE.

Most Recently I have started a booth at a local consignment store with handmade jewelry from friends, crafts, and my own art from recycled materials. It is called DAY by DAY. God was very clear with me starting this. Please look over to the right of blog and click on Day by Day to see some pictures. I'm just getting started but I am taking orders from people that I know. You will be able to personalize items, etc. I just haven't decided how I will be selling them via internet yet. But for now, the jewelry is at A Weekend A'fair in Athens, GA and will hopefully be at some stores downtown soon.

Daily Devotional 4/8 He Lives and the Easter Bunny

My brother Scott and Jonathan hid eggs while we took pictures.

I remember when I was little we bought a new appliance and of course we had a huge box that I wanted to play with. I decided I was going to spend the night in this box and "catch" the Easter bunny in act of leaving yummy candy and probably the same rabbit or toy I got last year that my Mom had hid. No offence Mom, I know we were broke. Well, I didn't catch the screwy rabbit of course but did enjoy sleeping in the box. Still to this day I expect the Easter bunny, aka parents, to give me candy, I did pout the year they forgot.

As the Easter bunny this week, I asked a few people, mostly kids, what Easter was really about. Well, the few answers I got was about candy and since their parents were there I was not going to intrude. I figure they had a bible verse in the egg I was giving them and said a prayer. Many adults came back to find me and praised the Lord and loved the verses.

Scott was so sweet with helping her find the eggs.

Scott told Evalyn "I'm glad you were born."

He was so excited that we came to see him!

I'm listening to Evalyn starting to wake up now and have an Easter basket for her. She has been generally draw to her christian books. She loves her Bible and her My First Easter Book. Of course she also likes her little bunny and Easter egg hunting. I think there just needs to be a balance and have fun. Our children will know what is most important and just like Christmas, it should be celebrated and taught all year long. I read this article this morning:  http://www2.ljworld.com/news/2012/apr/08/faith-forum-do-easter-bunny-and-easter-egg-hunts-t/

Yesterday's Hole in the wall, Awesome Mexican Food

Wallace begging with dignity yet again.

Evalyn loved the salsa and was trying to drink it like Milk.

So for this Easter, I think we will start out the morning with her book, My First Easter, and then have breakfast, then have some fun with some presents while listening to worship music. We are also going to take some pictures and have another Easter egg hunt, reusing the eggs from yesterday, hee hee, thanks Mom for making me so thrifty, I get it from Poppa too, but I get my fine tastes from my Granny. We have decided not to try a new church today, mainly because I still feel really weak, I don't want to wear a mask, and I know that churches will be packed and I don't want to get sick. Watching all of these birds come to my late Nanny's bird feeder, the fishing boat on the lake as the fog rolls across, the great heron that just passed our house, is proof enough today that I serve a risen savior, Jesus, who holds me in his hands.

THIS EASTER MORNING

The Easter bunny came for everyone!

We got a new pet, her name is Tiger Lily, the butterfly. I don't know how it works but it's cool.

The pic of the three of us didn't work out so well.

Mommy's first drawing from Evalyn, thanks Carol for your help.

Chloe got a new toy of course, and loves to hate flashes.

Easter Bunny is tired by 10 am, thank God we are on schedule A today.

I miss the old hymns from my youth.... here is one of my favorites.
